Does a valid number mean the account exists?

No. The tool checks that the number is well formed and that its check digits are right. Only the bank knows whether the account is open, who holds it and what it contains.

Is Toolty linked to any government agency?

No. Toolty is not affiliated with any government agency, embassy or immigration service. The tool checks a number; it guarantees neither that an account exists nor that an application will be accepted.

What if my number is flagged as wrong?

Check the highlighted digits against your original document: that is where a copying mistake is most likely. If in doubt, ask your bank for an account details statement or a bank account certificate.

Where does the bank information come from?

From public registers: central banks, banking supervisors, the BCEAO directory and the global GLEIF database. Each detail keeps its source, and a BIC found only in unofficial directories is flagged as such.

Is my account number sent to you?

No. Your number is never sent to us nor kept: at most we receive the country of the number, to send you the public directory of its banks.
